Established in 2000, Back Stage Technologies (Europe) Ltd has built a solid, international, reputation for the design, fabrication and installation of special effects systems tailored specifically towards the theme park, museum and visitor attractions industry.
Back Stage Technologies offers a high-quality service, incorporating innovative designs and supported by fast, efficient, installations.
As well as bespoke, ground-breaking, one-off effects, Back Stage Technologies also has a wide range of off-the-shelf effects that can be installed by the client directly – without the need for 3rd party contractors.
All the special effects supplied by Back Stage Technologies are supported by a full and extensive range of consumables, that are also designed and manufactured in-house. Included within this range are smoke fluid, haze fluid, snow fluid, fog fluid, fragrances and fuels.
BST also has a full 2D and 3D CAD facility in-house together with fabrication workshop, laser cutting, powder coating and 3D printing.
Having expanded from one to four small industrial units, BST Europe consolidated in 2012 and purchased a larger facility with offices, warehousing and manufacturing all under one roof and, at the same time, invested in two, off-site, explosive magazine facilities for the storage of fireworks and explosives – enabling expansion of the pyrotechnics and fireworks side of the business.
Low-Carbon Principles and Sustainability
At Back Stage Technologies we appreciate that everyone wants spectacular special effects within their attractions, but not at the expense of the environment.
The concept of sustainability is the reasoning behind BST’s development of the next generation of special effects that follow low-carbon principles not only in the materials and processes used to fabricate the effects, but also in the consumables they use which subsequently reduce their impact on the environment.
Some examples of our low-carbon footprint effects include our Fake Flame™ system which simulates flame and fire effects, but uses electrically generated steam rather than burning fossil fuels such a propane or isoparaffinics.
Our Koolfog system creates dry ice effects without the need for carbon dioxide as well as creating smoke and haze effects without the need for chemicals such glycols or mineral oils. This means that no chemicals are released into the atmosphere.
The above are just a few examples of the ways in which BST are working towards supplying a range of special effects that are still extremely spectacular whilst offering a vital lower carbon footprint.
