PACIFIC RIM – SHATTERDOME STRIKE

Theme Park Backstage Technologies Europe

Pacific Rim – Shatterdome Strike

Back Stage Technologies have been working with Legacy Entertainment on Pacific Rim – Shatterdome Strike, to provide all the special effects. Shatterdome Strike is the latest Trans Studios, immersive theatre, dark ride based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Shatterdome Strike is different to other dark rides

Unlike all other dark rides to date, Pacific Rim – Shatterdome Strike, has live actors positioned throughout the ride. These live actors interact with guests to bring the attraction to life! This concept has now set the new  standard for dark rides in the future. We believe many other theme park operators will now be designing and installing similar attractions in their parks.

The Special Effects

For this new dark ride, BST designed and installed a huge range of special effects within this attraction, the most notable being.

Thirty wind machines to create a feeling of traveling at speed from within the ride vehicle. Other effects included,

Multiple air-darts to simulate bullets whizzing past the heads of the riders

Water spritz to simulate rainfall.

Fragrances to give the aroma of burning vehicles

Fog effects to create the illusion of explosions and mask props and scenery

BST’s simulated flame system (Fake Flame™) was also used to create the illusion of the set being on fire in some more dramatic scenes.

Simulated electrical short-circuits, using multiple mini strobe lights, were installed to add sparkle and realism to break-away props.

Fake Flame – Simulated fire system

The BST fake flame system uses steam, lighting and patented valve technology to create fire effects that are indistinguishable from the real thing! Fake Flame can be used in any low-light situation where real flame is not an option. The system is ideal for dark rides, scare attractions, cruise ships and theatres. Fake Flame also has considerably reduced running costs when compared with propane flame effects.
