BST were delighted to be asked by Flamingo Land Resort, Yorkshire, to provide a range of special effects for their latest, 10 inversion, thrill coaster – Sik.
Sik has five different types of inversion including an enormous 25m loop, a cobra roll, a corkscrew and a dizzying five heart-line roll. The Intamin coaster also dives underground at two points during the ride, and this is where BST installed a pair of large water fogging systems designed to fill the tunnels with a thick, opaque, fog so guests cannot see where the tunnel starts or ends – making for both a frightening and exhilarating experience. Being real fog the only consumable is water so there are no harmful chemicals being introduced into the atmosphere or expensive smoke fluids to buy.
During the thrilling ride, the coaster skirts around the perimeter of a man-made lake in which BST installed a central fountain feature with under-water LED lighting to illuminate it at night.
Around the perimeter of the lake were positioned ten large water jet effects that shoot a column of water five metres into the air. The ten water jets are synchronised via a bespoke control system that triggers each jet, in sequence, as the coaster vehicle passes, giving the illusion of the vehicle skipping across the water’s surface.
