The HBS-36 Heat Blast was primarily designed for use in theme park dark rides and 4D cinema applications where a short-duration burst of warm air was needed to compliment a specific scene and where short-wave infra-red heat effects were not suitable due to their visible light output.
Any heat effect that is not “direct” requires considerable power to achieve a noticeable result, hence the range of Heat Blast effects start at 36kW.
The HBS-36 is driven by compressed air and a suitable supply will need to be supplied. The system includes the main effect head, compressed air accumulator tank and pre-plumbed valve trains, DMX control interface, temperature controller and over-heat safety systems to protect the heater element should the air supply fail.
The main effect head is designed to be mounted horizontally and inclined towards the audience at a maximum angle of 45° from the horizontal. The system can be floor mounted or suspended.
Due to the extreme temperatures produced by the HBS-36, care should be taken to ensure adequate ventilation is provided around the effect head and that it is installed in a location such that it cannot be touched by any persons.
The image shows the uninsulated version of the HBS-36. It is assumed that, once installed, the system will be fully insulated by a 3rd party. Alternatively, the system can be supplied pre-insulated and ready for installation.
The HBS-36 is also available in other configurations, namely 11kW and 40kW and in a fan-driven, continually running, option, (rather than the cued option) if the time between activations is less than the recuperation time of the system – normally 60 seconds minimum.
